In the past 24 hours, the besieged Gaza Strip has witnessed a devastating escalation of violence, with at least 700 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, losing their lives in the latest Israeli attacks. The relentless bombardment has resulted in the destruction of numerous homes, buildings, residential apartments, and both public and private properties.
The Israeli military targeted the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, causing over 100 fatalities. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that Shujaiya neighborhood and Jabaliya refugee camp were particularly hard-hit, with at least 400 people killed in these areas alone.
Tragedy struck when an Israeli airstrike hit a residential building in the al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, causing civilian casualties. Another house was targeted in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, resulting in additional loss of life.
In southern Gaza, Israel continued its attacks on the eastern areas of Khan Yunis. The al-Junainah area in Rafah witnessed a deadly strike, and a house in the Nadim area of the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, was also bombed. Airstrikes were reported near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, leaving many civilians trapped under the rubble.
The death toll in the besieged territory since October 7 has now reached around 16,000, with a heartbreaking majority being women and children. The Gaza Health Ministry revealed that Israeli forces intentionally targeted 130 health facilities, rendering 20 hospitals out of service.
As the total siege imposed by Israel on the already blockaded territory persists, the situation is dire, with food supplies dwindling each passing day. The international community watches with growing concern as the humanitarian crisis deepens in Gaza.
